Reviews
All of the food here was decent. Nothing was absolutely amazing—my favorites were the french toast sticks and the berry rectangle thing. I enjoyed my breakfast sandwich, but I feel like it was simple enough that I could have made something just as good at home. At the very least, there are other breakfast places that can do a higher quality breakfast sandwich. This is NOT to say it was bad because I still enjoyed it. I'm just explaining the what made this a 4-star review instead of a 5-star one.
Update from 2 months later: I tried their croque monsieur which was a special for the weekend and it was REALLY good. Ham and cheese croissant with a piece of French toast on top that was infused with maple syrup. I think the ratio of ham to cheese to croissant could have been better but overall I was happy. I also tried their chocolate chip cookies which were pretty good.
The operation here is focused more on fast service and less on made-to-order. All the sandwiches have already been made and they're sitting in a window. I would've loved an egg and cheese on their pretzel bun, but that's not an option. When you order they'll warm it up for you.
My sandwich was flavorful. It was also half-heated with cold spots.
The pastries in appearance are enticing and they half way deliver on taste.
For two sandwiches, a pastry, a coffee, and hot tea it was $40 + tip.
It's fast and it's convenient, but I value attention to food, fair prices, and a calmer and more relaxed atmosphere. It wasn't my scene, but it might be yours 🤷
Located in the middle of the financial district, Tradesman Lounge offers a relaxed and delicious coffee shop experience.
During my visit during a weekday morning rush, snagging a table was a bit challenging as there were a lot of workers and travelers dropping by for some quick coffee or breakfast. I got their Sausage & Egg Sandwich. It was basic and compact but boasted of all the essentials for a delightful bite: a fluffy scramble, a savory sausage patty, and ketchup that seamlessly knit the flavors together.
As seen on Instagram, the croissants were beautifully presented, with each croissant filled with flavored and sweetened cream. As is the case for a lot of cream-filled croissants, the croissant itself wasn’t very flaky — a bit dense — but the cream managed to balance out the texture. However, a word of caution for those with a less sweet tooth: the creams lean towards the sweeter end. Among the trio, the Tiramisu Croissant stood out, not drowning in filling, thus hitting the right balance in sweetness. Apple Pie and Red Velvet iterations were also delightful, but I wasn’t sure if it justified its premium price tag. To wash it down, I opted for their Madagascar Vanilla Latte. Creamy and aromatic, it unfortunately erred on the sweeter side, especially when paired with the already sugary croissants.
For those looking for sweet pastries, the croissants from Tradesman are worth a try. However, if diving into their specialty croissants, perhaps a regular, unsweetened coffee might be the ideal companion to counterbalance the sweetness.
Pros:
-Good coffee.
-Nice decoration, making a great vibe.
Cons:
-The sandwiches were very greasy, even when touching the bread alone.
Everything was amazing! The cafe had a great vintage vibe. The decorations are so cute. Each croissant looked like a masterpiece and tasted great. I got a vanilla oat milk latte and it was perfectly strong yet sweet. Would 100% come back
Coffee is excellent, the service was good too the ambience is beautiful. I tried the apple cheese bacon sandwich, the flavor was good but it was so greasy couldn’t finish it. Would definitely recommend this coffee shop and be back on my next visit to the city.
A really pretty place with so-so pastries.
I liked the atmosphere. It was very chic with the dark wood and metal.
I got a tiramisu croissant and a red velvet cookie. The croissant had filling inside which was nice. But the croissant itself wasn’t super flaky or buttery. The cookie was much richer than I thought it’d be. I liked the little white chocolate chips because they added some texture and additional taste.
I might try other croissants to see if they’re better, but my initial foray was meh
Looks phenomenal, tastes like it was baked the day prior. The ratio on the mocha tastes more like a warm cup of milk. Both types of croissants we had were really hard to chew on and it was a Monday morning we went. Would highly recommend Tattes Bakery instead
